Nearly two years of planning by Faith Lutheran Home's Board of Directors, started with a concept of adding an assisted living complex to their campus at 914 Davidson Drive. The $1.6 million complex was completed with 16 residents enjoying the social ammenitites in a comfortable home atmosphere. LaDonna Gunderson, Administrator (now retired), said assisted living is a stepping stone that allows people to make the transistion from independent living to assisted living and finally to a nursing home. Faith Home Assisted Living is the only assisted living center in Mitchell County. The building is attached, through common walkways, to both the Evergreen Independent Living and Faith Lutheran Home extended care and rehab nursing home. This arrangement is very similar to the Continuum of Care Campuses seen in larger cities. Faith Home Assisted Living features 14 apartments which each have a full kitchen, living room, bedroom(s) and handicap accessible bathroom. There is also a shared Great Room with a large screen TV, DVD and VCR that has become a popular feature. Residents can enjoy their privacy or entertain in their own apartment or spend time with friends in common rooms. In the dining room residents are served three meals a day and a small kitchennette is available for continental breakfasts. Laundry services, housekeeping, an emergency call light system, 24 hour security, scheduled transportation, and personal care services are also available to residents. We have social hour everyday, and scheduled daily exercises. The ladies enjoy manicures, pedicures and facials along with scheduled shopping trips. Other activities include card parties, picnics, fishing, outings, Bingo and wine and cheese parties. Assisted Living residents are invited to attend dances, parties and special music at Faith Lutheran Home, and Evergreen as well as all church related activities. These shared activities create the opportunity to tour the facility, so residents become familiar if they choose to transfer to the nursing home in the future.
